Cerebral Hemorrhage in Hemophilia
نویسنده
چکیده
Intracranial hemorrhage in hemophilia is an unusual manifestation of the disease. The cases hitherto reported have been those of subarachnoid rather than of intracerebral hemorrhage. Indeed, Gunther,2 writing in 1935, stated that no substantiated instance of cerebral hemorrhage in a hemophiliac had been detailed up to that date. Von Limbeck,5 however, is credited with the description of such a case. Hemophilia in a child, with effusion of blood into the ventricles, was reported by Traneus,4 but a negative family history and absence of previous hemorrhagic episodes were specifically mentioned. This patient was cited in the comprehensive review of Bulloch and Fildes' but no other instance of cerebral hemorrhage substantiated by necropsy was included. Rosenthal3 stated that he observed one case of fatal cerebral hemorrhage, but gave no details. The present communication is made because of the unequivocal evidence of hemophilia in a patient who died as the result of a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

Hemophilia is one of the most common inherited coagulation disorder; with almost half of the cases presents in the neonatal period with bleeding episodes specially post circumcision, although family history is present in about two third cases. Retroperitoneal hemorrhage is a very rare presentation of hemophilia and to the best of our knowledge has not described yet, as initial presentation of h...
متن کاملUnusual Initial Manifestation of Acquired Hemophilia A: A Normal Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time, Intramuscular Hematoma and Cerebral Hemorrhage
We herein present a case of acquired hemophilia A with a normal activated partial thromboplastin (aPTT), intramuscular hematoma and cerebral hemorrhage occurring in a 73-year-old man. The patient visited our emergency department with gait disturbance, pain and swelling in his right leg. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed intramuscular hematoma and intracrania...
متن کاملSuccessful Renal Replacement Therapy for a Patient with Severe Hemophilia after Surgical Treatment of Intracranial Hemorrhage and Hydrocephalus
A 21-year-old Japanese male with severe hemophilia A was developed end-stage renal failure. He was placed on combination therapy with peritoneal dialysis (PD) and hemodialysis (HD). Eight months later, he developed a hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage. After emergency surgery, he was managed with PD without HD to avoid cerebral edema. One month later, his renal replacement therapy was switched to...
متن کاملThe Experimental Study of Increased ICP on Cerebral Hemorrhage Rabbits with Magnetic Induction Phase Shift Method
Introduction Measuring magnetic induction phase shift (MIPS) changes as a function of cerebral hemorrhage volume has the potential for being a simple method for primary and non-contact detection of the occurrence and progress of cerebral hemorrhage. Our previous MIPS study showed that the intracranial pressure (ICP) was used as a contrast index and found the primary correlation between MIPS and...
